Privacy Policy
Effective date: 13 July 2026
1. Who we are
DiggaPets is operated by Corvidae Limited,
Ground Floor, 26 Hobson Street, Auckland Central 1010, New Zealand ("we", "us", "our").
This policy explains how we handle personal information when you use the DiggaPets
website and game (the "Service").
We are a New Zealand company and we comply with the
New Zealand Privacy Act 2020 and its Information
Privacy Principles. The short version: we collect the minimum a small game needs, we run
no ad tracking, and deleting your account deletes everything.
2. What we collect
- Account details: your email address, a password hash (never the password itself), and an optional display name. If you sign in with Google or Microsoft, we receive your email and name from them.
- Timezone: your IANA timezone (for example Pacific/Auckland), so missions mature at sensible local times.
- Acquisition source: the first-touch source that brought you here (for example utm tags on the link you clicked), stored once at signup so we know which channels work.
- Gameplay telemetry: game events such as starting a mission, opening the shop, or completing onboarding, tied to your account, so we can see where the game loses people and fix it.
- Purchase records: which pack you bought and when, via Stripe. We never see or store your full card details.
- Terms acceptance audit: your IP address and the terms version at the moment you accept the terms, kept as evidence of the agreement.
3. Why we collect it
- To run the game: save your pet, burrow, museum, and progress, and deliver purchases to the right account.
- To measure the funnel: understand which pages and steps work so we can improve the game, using our own telemetry rather than third-party ad tools.
- To email you: transactional messages (receipts, security notices, support replies) and optional comeback emails when something has happened in your burrow. Every non-essential email has an unsubscribe link that works with one click.
4. What we never collect
- No advertising or tracking SDKs inside the game
- No selling or renting of your data, ever
- No advertising profiles built from your play
- No precise location, contacts, or device rummaging
5. Cookies
- diggapets.identity: the authentication cookie that keeps you signed in to the game. Essential.
- am_country: a country cookie set from GeoIP, used to show the right shop availability and consent behaviour for your region. Essential.
- Analytics (consent-gated): the marketing site may use analytics to understand how pages are used. Visitors from regions requiring prior consent (EEA/UK) are asked before any non-essential cookie is set; everyone can adjust or withdraw via the "Cookie settings" link in the footer.
6. Who processes data for us
- Amazon Web Services: hosting and database, in the Sydney and Auckland regions.
- Stripe: payment processing for the one-off packs.
- Google and Microsoft: optional sign-in, only if you choose it.
Where personal information is handled overseas (for example by Stripe), we take
reasonable steps to ensure it receives protection comparable to the NZ Privacy Act 2020,
as Information Privacy Principle 12 requires. We may also disclose information where the
law requires it, or in connection with a business transfer (you would be notified).
7. Retention
We keep your data while your account exists. When you delete your account in Settings,
deletion cascades everything: your pet, burrow,
museum, telemetry, and personal details. We may retain limited records where the law
requires it (for example tax records of purchases).
8. Children
DiggaPets is for players aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal
information from children under 13. If you believe we have, contact us at
[email protected] and we
will delete it.
9. Your rights
- Access and correction: your account details are visible and editable in Settings, and you can ask us for a copy of everything we hold at [email protected].
- Deletion: delete your account and all its data yourself in Settings, or ask us by email.
- Complaints: contact us first. If you are not satisfied, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner (privacy.org.nz).
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the new version here and update
the effective date, and announce material changes in the game. We will never quietly
downgrade your privacy.
